LARGE TUNA TERROR®- A bullet shaped lure that carries 185 grams of antimony alloy to maintain a true and straight coarse at high speed, up to 20 knots when pulled on a minimum tackle of 37kg / 80lb. I would recommend the Tuna Terrors be placed further back than standard lures when conditions are rough. The Large Tuna Terror can be trolled at speeds as low 2 knots on 15kg / 30lb tackle, this method of trolling for Yellowfin Tuna has proven very effective out off Coffs Harbour on the New South Wales mid north coast in recent years. The largest tuna to date caught on a Large Tuna Terror was a 92kg / 202lb Bigeye from the North Island of New Zealand.

SMALL TUNA TERROR®- Smallest in the Tuna Terror Series it carries only 50 grams of antimony alloy. This small bullet shaped lure is Hollowpoint Lures largest selling lure, this I believe is due to the fact that every pelagic species will eat it from juvenile tuna to 200kg marlin. The Small Tuna Terror over the past 3 years has accounted for more 100kg+ Southern Bluefin Tuna than another lure.

MEDIUM TUNA SPEER- A new weighted lure from Hollowpoint Lures. First tested at the 2004 Golden Lure Game Fishing Tournament held annually at Port Macquarie. The Medium Tuna Speer captured 4 out of the 7 fish that were caught from Inkwazi including the 25kg / 55lb Mahi Mahi pictured. Captain Tim Dean of Calypso Fishing Charters has had most success with the Medium Tuna Speer when positioned in the Shotgun position for Blue Marlin. A very versatile lure that can be trimmed to 6” or the skirts can be left at full length and towed on 60kg / 130lb tackle with 12/0 hooks.

An email sent to us by Capt. Tim Dean one of the worlds finest charter boat captains fishing wide of the Great Barrier Reef in December 2005.

G'day Tony,
Thought I would pass on the great news about the fishing we had on the Tuna Speer you gave me last year in Port.

We fished wide of the reef, about 70 nm out around some tuna schools, in the day we caught around 45 tuna which were big eye's and BIG yellowfin. the biggest yellow went 230lb's. (non claimed record on 60kg tackle) another 12 fish to 60 kg also 5 blacks to 750lb's tagged with fish to 1000lb's fought and lost.

Also around 25 smaller big eyes and yellows were also tagged and released.

Obviously we used lots of lures on a day like this ( the best fishing I have ever seen) BUT the Tuna Speer run long on the stinger was the best contender for the day, he eventually was lost on about his 10th BIG yellow for the day after taking 2 marlin earlier.

GOD rest his poor soul!!
